Business Development Manager (BDM)

  • Salary: £30,000 (uncapped OTE of £40,000 - £45,000)

Job description

To build and extend the UK&I customer base, PCU is looking to expand the sales team with a “Business Development Manager” (BDM). PCU are looking for a driven, highly motivated, ambitious new business-focused sales professional to join the team and contribute to the fast growth of the business.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for selling the complete portfolio within the UK&I region to organisations within SME of 100-500+ employees and will report to the Head of Sales and Marketing.

The ideal Business Development Manager will:

  • Possess a minimum of 18-24+ months of closing sales experience
  • Be technically minded (Cyber, SaaS, Cloud, etc.)
  • Be consultative, tenacious, and professional in approach
  • Have high levels of motivation and first-class communication and presentation skills

  • The Business Development Manager must work at all contact levels within a customer including C-Level

Main Activities

  • Prospect new logo accounts within the small mid-market space (100-500+ employees)
  • Work with an assigned Senior Account Director and Head of Sales and Marketing to develop a go-to-market strategy for target accounts within the small and mid-market space
  • Schedule and attend customer meetings/online sessions to present the PCU portfolio and support the scoping of the customer's requirement
  • Input all data into the CRM tool and provide proposals to the qualified opportunities
  • Successfully forecast and build a pipeline of new business opportunities
  • Daily prospecting via phone, LinkedIn, email
  • Achieve and exceed sales target
  • Work with internal marketing and channel partners to drive activity
  • Manage inbound leads through to opportunities and closed business
  • Ensure accurate and predictable forecasting on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
  • Ensure the CRM is maintained daily with new business activity

Knowledge & Skills

  • +2 years track record - end user-focused role ideally within mid-market
  • Cybersecurity / Technology or Software sales preferred
  • Base knowledge of IT Security and good knowledge of Cloud, Web, and Email Security
  • Self-starter with a high-energy approach
  • Demonstrable selling skills with examples of mid-market project/account wins
  • Excellent oral/written communications skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Technically competent with an ability to learn
  • Familiarity with a CRM Platform
  • Excellent customer engagement and relationship building skills
  • Consultative sales experience is ideal

Career Progression

The successful applicant will start in business development and be provided with initial training of Cybersecurity and PCU processes. Following the initial induction, the first 9-12 months will involve developing new business leads and focusing on sales in the SME sized companies across all sectors, and developing SME existing accounts. During this period, the successful applicant will be assigned and shadow one of PCU’s senior sales managers, to learn their trade and gain experience. The applicant will learn the products and acquire additional sales skills in order to become steadily more independent with the aim of independently developing and managing larger accounts. Once the applicant has proven themselves, they would then look to be promoted to an Account Executive and be assigned their own sectors to focus on, for both generating new SME business and managing and growing existing accounts.

After gaining additional experience, over the following 18-24 months, (subject to business need) the applicant will then look to move into a Senior Account Manager role and focus on developing large company accounts and supporting the development  of new business.

  • Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 Basic + Uncapped OTE (£40,000 - £45,000 OTE)
